What is Kazzong?

Kazzong is a decentralized music distribution system based on the latest Web 2.0 technology that brings music directly to your fans!

Kazzong lets you discover and listen to music, and then provides you with a quick and easy download on any internet site with an embedded Kazzong player.

Once you have completed the free Kazzong sign-on procedure, you are no more than two clicks away from downloading music from any Kazzong player on the internet. When you have signed on, you simply open a Kazzong Player, select the songs you want, and click Buy. On the prompt asking you whether you really want to buy them, click Yes. The download will begin immediately, and your favorite songs will be transferred directly to your PC!

Kazzong delivers all tracks as MP3 files. None of the songs are copy-protected by DRM (Digital Rights Management), so you can copy them to as many devices (e.g. various PCs, MP3 players, etc.) or CDs as you like.

Your personal Kazzong login area on the Kazzong homepage lists all of your purchases, where you can download them up to three times.

You can support your favorite artists by embedding their Kazzong Players in your own internet pages (e.g. community pages, your personal homepage, etc.). To do so, open a player and click Embed Player to your Website in the bottom left-hand corner. Then press CTRL+C to copy the player's code and insert it into your homepage, community site, discussion group and/or blog with CTRL+V.

» Information for Artists/Bands

Kazzong offers you a quick and easy way to sell your own music over the internet. Kazzong Players allow you to present yourself as an artist on any internet site that consumers and potential fans might visit.

You only need to complete the following steps to bring your songs directly to your fans and extend your fan community through of Kazzong:

Register with Kazzong
Upload your songs/albums to your Kazzong User Account
Assemble any number of playlists with the tracks you have uploaded
Choose various skins for your Kazzong Player to display your playlists
Use CTRL+C to copy your Kazzong Player's code, and embed it wherever you want to offer your songs/albums for purchase (e.g. your homepage, your community sites, blogs, discussion groups, fan sites, etc.) with CTRL+V

You can upload up to 200 tracks to your Kazzong Artist/Band Account. These must always be in MP3 format and have a constant bit rate (CBR) of at least 192 kbps (or 112-192 kbps VBR), a sampling rate of 44,100 Hz. They should also use stereo or joint stereo channels.

You define your own purchase prices for your tracks and albums using pre-defined price scales. We have summarized all of the price scales available to you, as well as the resulting revenue and any other terms that apply to you on a separate page. Your Artist/Band Account allows you to monitor your sales constantly. Kazzong provides a comprehensive statistics feature to help you evaluate your success. A real-time display shows how often which of your songs were listened to on which websites using the Price List feature. You can also display a real-time list showing which internet sites sold which of your songs/albums/playlists, and how often they were sold.

Kazzong will provide you with a detailed monthly bill, which you can download from your Artist/Band Account in PDF format. The sales upon which your bill is based can be downloaded as a .csv file. This lists all of your sales during the settlement period (date, document number, track/album, gross selling price, earnings, end consumer's country of residence, download URL, Player ID).

Kazzong will post your earnings on a monthly basis, provided your account balance exceeds EUR 20. Your Artist/Band Account includes a real-time display of your account balance. Your earnings will be paid via bank transfer (some countries), PayPal or ClickandBuy.

Kazzong has contracts with production rights societies (in Germany: GEMA) and will see to it that any copyright license fees are properly paid, provided the tracks you have uploaded have been registered with a production rights society.

With Kazzong, you can create your own Kazzong Players and let your Sales Partners distribute them all over the internet. Once you release your Players for your Sales Partners, they can place them on their websites to offer visitors your songs/albums. The more websites your songs are offered for download on, the higher your earnings will be. A Sales Partner's commission is paid directly by Kazzong and will not reduce your earnings.

In your Artist/Band Account, you can enable a general release of all your Kazzong Players for your Sales Partners. Your Sales Partners then sell your songs/albums/playlists over their internet sites at prices that you have defined yourself. Thus, you retain total control over the Players used by your Sales Partners, and you can use your Artist/Band Account to block your Partners from using your Kazzong Players anytime you like.

» Information for Labels

Kazzong makes selling music for your artists/bands quick and easy. Kazzong Players allow you to present your artists/bands on any internet site that consumers and potential fans might visit.

You only need to complete the following steps to bring the songs of your artists/bands directly to your fans and allow them to extend their fan community through of Kazzong:

Register with Kazzong as a Label
Upload the songs/albums of your artists/bands to your Kazzong User Account
You can use your uploaded tracks to assemble as many playlists as you like, or create Subaccounts so your artists/bands can assemble their own
Choose individual skins for the Kazzong Players that will be used for your playlists, or let your artists/bands choose their own skins
Use CTRL+C to copy your Kazzong Player's code, and CTRL+V to insert it wherever you want to sell your songs/albums on the internet (e.g. your label's homepage, your community sites, blogs, discussion groups, etc.). Alternatively, you can allow your artists/bands to distribute Kazzong Players themselves

You can use your Label Account to upload up to 10,000 songs. Uploading your artists'/bands' songs/albums may involve moving large data volumes to our servers. To facilitate this process, we have provided you with access to an FTP server and import interface (csv- and xml-import). Your songs must always be in MP3 format and have a constant bit rate (CBR) of at least 192 kbps (or 112-192 kbps VBR), a sampling rate of 44,100 Hz. They should also use stereo or joint stereo channels.

Your Label Account allows you to monitor your sales constantly. Kazzong provides a comprehensive statistics feature to help you evaluate the success of your artists/bands. But your Label Account does not only offer many new sales opportunities to you alone - you can share them with your artists/bands by providing them with their own access to Kazzong. By creating Subaccounts for your artists/bands, you can allow them to create Kazzong Players with their own songs/albums. They can then place them on their own homepages, community sites, blogs, fan pages etc. However, a Subaccount only allows artists/bands to create Kazzong Players for their own music and choose a skin. They will not have access to any of the pricing features, your master data or your settlement information.

» Information for Website Operators

There are two ways in which a website operator can benefit from Kazzong. You can register with Kazzong as an Aggregation Partner and/or Sales Partner completely free of charge.

1. Aggregation Partners

Ideally, an Aggregation Partner should have a heavily frequented internet site that is often visited by artists/bands. As an Aggregation Partner, you recommend the use of Kazzong (as a banner or advert in newsletters, for example) to artists/bands on your website.

If an artist or band uses a direct link on your website to register with Kazzong, you will receive two per cent of their sales through Kazzong Players over a period of two years. Your commission is paid directly by Kazzong and will not reduce an Artist's or Band's earnings.

You can use your Aggregation Partner Account to track the sales of artists/bands you have recommended in real-time.

Your commission is paid directly by Kazzong and will not reduce an Artist's or Band's earnings. Your Aggregation Partner Account includes a real-time display of your account balance. Your commission will be paid via the payment service provider ClickandBuy. If you do not yet have a ClickandBuy account, you can automatically create one free of charge during the Kazzong sign-on procedure. You can transfer your ClickandBuy credit to an ordinary bank account anytime you like.

2. Sales Partners

A Kazzong Sales Partner should be operators of heavily frequented internet sites (e.g. information portals or communities).

As an information portal operator with Kazzong Sales Partner membership, you are free to use Kazzong Players created by artists/bands that have registered with Kazzong and released their Players for the Sales Partner Program on your page. This makes Kazzong Players an excellent alternative to ordinary banner ads, which will enhance your website with chargeable content.

If you are an internet community operator registered as a Kazzong Sales Partner, you can allow your members to embed Kazzong Players in their profiles. You could also recommend that they use Kazzong, thereby also acting as an Aggregation Partner.

Kazzong will pay a 3 per cent commission for all sales through Players embedded in your internet site. Your commission is paid directly by Kazzong and will not reduce an Artist's or Band's earnings.

You can use your Sales Partner Account to track sales through the Players you or your community members have placed on the internet in real-time.

» Information for Content Aggregators

The Kazzong system offers you an easy way to sell your labels'/artists' songs and albums.

As a Content Aggregator, you can upload your catalog to Kazzong and establish Subaccounts for your labels/artists, which they can use to create Kazzong Players for their own songs/albums. Your labels/artists can then insert the Kazzong Players directly into their homepages, communities, discussion groups, blogs or fan sites. However, a Subaccount only allows labels/artists to create Kazzong Players for their own music and choose a skin. They will not have access to any of the pricing features, your master data or your settlement information.

With Kazzong, your labels/artists can create their own Kazzong Players, and you can let your Sales Partners distribute them all over the internet. Once you release your Players for your Sales Partners, they can place them on their websites to offer visitors your labels'/artists' songs/albums. In your Content Aggregator Account, you can enable a general release of all your Kazzong Players for your Sales Partners. Your Sales Partners then sell your labels'/ artists' songs/albums/playlists over their internet sites. Thus, you retain total control over the Players used by your Sales Partners, and you can use your Kazzong Account to block your Partners from using your Kazzong Players anytime you like.
